Friends of Wayne Gilchrest

A Special Group of Supporters

BACKGROUND

In 2001, a small group of loyal supporters led by former Congresswoman Marjorie Holt and a few key political activists from around Maryland's First Congressional district conceived of the idea of forming a core group to support the re-election of Congressman Wayne Gilchrest through an annual giving program. The idea was to make sure that Wayne could count on a basic level of financial support for his re-election campaign, enable him to focus more of his time and energy on serving his constituents in Congress, and in the process, invite those core supporters to meet with Wayne on a regular basis to discuss political strategy, current events, and just catch up with long-time friends from past campaigns. Over the past several years, this group has evolved into "Friends of Wayne Gilchrest", a committed group of supporters who through their annual giving, provide over $30,000 per year to support Wayne's re-election campaign.

REGULAR MEETINGS

The members of Friends of Wayne Gilchrest are invited several times each year to small, complimentary breakfast and lunch meetings with Wayne throughout the district to discuss the latest political developments and current events. In addition, each December the campaign hosts a special Holiday reception especially to thank the loyal supporters of this giving program.

Members also receive priority notice of local events and periodic political and policy updates produced by the campaign especially for our contributors.
